Rajyasree Bandyopadhyay – a versatile personality in Music

rajyasree bandhopadhyayaRajyasree Bandyopadhyay , daughter of late Sundar Narayan Bandyopadhyay and Smt. Protima Bandyopadhyay started singing from a very tender age. She received her initial trainings in music from her parents who were very good singers. Inspired by the songs of late Kishore Kumar , she started singing only songs of Kishore Kumar in her childhood. Her first programme in All India Radio was at the age of five years . Gradually she joined “Sangeet Bharati”degree course in Gitabitan music school Kolkata, to learn Indian Classical Music.

Strong parental values along with the environment of her convent school disciplined Rajyasree to complete her education from the University of Calcutta . She has done M.A in Psychology securing a 1st class 3rd position. She is an “A” grade artiste of All India Radio and has given her solo voice in many important, special feature programmes of AIR. Kolkata.

Rajyasree’s VERSATILITY is best perceived when one hears her singing modern songs, folk, devotional songs, bhajans, Rabindrasangeeet, Nazrulgeeti ,ghazals , classical based songs- DIFFERENT MOODS UNDER ONE UMBRELLA. She regularly performs in reputed electronic channels & fms of Kolkata. She got specialized technical training and blessings from different gurus Viz: Late Sukhendu Goswami, late Brojen Biswas, late Dinendra Choudhury, late Biman Mukherjee, late Neeta Sen, late Ajoy Das, late Chinmoy Chatterjee, LATE Dhiren Bosu, Shri Jatileshwar Mukherjee, shri Rabin Mukherjee,shri Prosad Sen & Pandit Santanu Banerjee .

Her debut album “ KAY TUMI DAKO MOREY” in 1993, was released from EBI Company. Thereafter, her solo , basic albums “ AKAASH HOTE PARI” (1996) from SAGARIKA & “BHALO BASHAR NAAM TUMI” (2001) from ARJOE MUSIC made her popular among the music critics and music lovers of Bengal. Rajyasree had the opportunity to sing for the reknowned music directors of Bengal.

She has a natural flair to sing in multi languages like Hindi, Nepali, Urdu,Oriya, Assamese etc. She recorded Lokenath Bhajans in Assamese Language. She also has an album on ‘KARBI’ songs .

Rajyasree writes articles on music in different magazines, news papers and music journals ( viz: The Journal Of Sangeet Research Academy- ITC). She received Junior Research Fellowship for doing her research on music therapy (2005-2007) from Ministry Of Culture – Govt. Of . India.

RajyasreeShe chairs as a judge in prestigeous T.V. shows and music competitions viz: The Telegraph In Schools ( TTIS) Competition, music competitions organized by State Music Academy , Lion’s club, “Khonj- Voice of Bengal”, Tripura Sera swarna kantha etc . She worked in the screening team of Indian Idol- Junior. In December 2009, she received Gouri Prasanna Memorial Award for her musical achievement. In 2013 She received BANGA SHIROMONI SAMMAN .She received SHAROD SAMMAN in October 2013 from the hands of Honble chief minister of Tripura .

A DVD ON RABINDRASANGEET WAS LAUNCHED FROM RAGA MUSIC,IN 2010,WHICH BECAME VERY POPULAR AMONGST THE KIDS IT COMPRISED 8 SONGS FOR CHILDREN AND IT WAS PROBABLY THE FIRST ANIMATED ALBUM MADE ON CHILDRENS ‘ SONGS OF TAGORE IN KOLKATA .

She play backed for Bengali feature film – TEEN TANAYA. She sang in T.V Serials.

Rajyasree sang on behalf of several music companies . She also lend her voice in NRI music projects which were released in the United states Her latest puja album BERONGIN MUKHOSH was released from RAGA MUSIC In 2013.

Her hobby is travelling, photography, cooking & shopping.

Her moto as a singer , is to capture the different moods of her audience through her melodious voice. Her future plans include promoting Indian music through live concerts all over the world. Her priority lies in performing “quality music” having rich lyrics and tune. Her performances abroad left people spellbound.
