Ottamthullal – Sri Kuttamath Janardhanan – Kalyanasougandhikam (Partial)
Shri Kuttamath Janardhanan was born in 1948 at Kuttamath as the eldest son of Kannayadil Sree Krishnan Nair and Smt. Kallyani Amma. He started practicing “Ottan Thullal” at the age of Eleven. First he performed on stage (Arangettam) in 1960 at Kuttamath Ponmalam Vishnumoorthi Temple. In 1961 he performed “Kallayana Sougandhikam” at Guruvayoor Temple followed by shows at almost all temples in Kerala. For the last 40 years he is regularly performing “Ottan Thullal” in Thiruvangad Temple at Thalasseri and in Mahe Sree Krishna Temple, which is called the Guruvayoor of north Kerala. Besides that he performs in Hemambika Temple at Kallekulangara of Palghat for the last 25 years. There are more than 5000 stage shows to this credit conducted with in and out of Kerala.
He learned “Thullal” initially from his father Shri Kannayadil Krishnan Nair, who was a gifted performer and the first winner of Kunchan Smaraka Award, Government of Kerala and then he practiced under the guidance of Shri Kutti Krishna Marar, who was the winner of Indira Gandhi Award. Kuttamath Janardhanan has performed this art in outside Kerala also on various stages of Chennai, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Pune etc.
