Meenakshi Medhi – Passionate performer of Sattriya dance
Meenakshi Medhi is a dedicated and commited Sattriya dancer. She is the disciple of Sattriya dance exponent Adhypak Jibonjit Dutta. Meenakshi has obtained her Nritya Visharad in Sattriya dance from Natan Sattriya Academy under Sangeet Sattra Pariksha Parishad, Guwahati. She has also obtained Nritya Visharad in Bharatnatyam from Sarbabharatiya Sangeet- O- Sanskritik Parishad, Kolkata.
Blessed with natural flair for the art, and relentless single-minded devotion, Meenakshi has developed into her present status as an elite performing artist.
She had the opportunity to perform Sattriya dance on World Dance Day 2010 Organized By Shristi centre of Performing Arts at Bangalore. She also performed during the Rongali Bihu Festival 2010 organized by the Assam Association, Mumbai. In the year 2011, Meenakshi’s performance was highly applauded and appreciated in the Indradhanush Festival of Indian Classical dance organized by SUNAINA in association with ICCR and Ministry of Culture held at New Delhi, Baliyatra Mahotsava 2011 organized by Govt. of Odisha at Cuttack, Indian Theater Olympiad at Cuttack and recently during the website launch ceremony of Srimanta Sankardeva on 1 January 2012 at Guwahati, Nrithyabharathi Festival 2012, held at Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, 12th Nritya Parva Festival organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi, Guwahati etc…
She was awarded National Scholarship in Sattriya dance for the year 2010-2011 by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. Meenakshi has been honoured with National NRITYA BHUSHAN Award in the prestigious event India Theatre Olympaid by Utkal Yuva Sanskrutik Sangh, Cuttack. Besides she got innumerable prizes for her performances at different places.
